The nation's defense depends on information from foreign language newspapers, magazines, radio broadcasts and other sources. Therefore, it's very important that some members of the Army be able to read and understand the many languages of the world. The Cryptologic Linguist is primarily responsible for performing and supervising the detection, acquisition, location and identification of foreign communications using signals equipment.

Duties may include:

Translating, transcribing or producing summaries of foreign language transmissions in English/target languages
Identifying languages spoken in an assigned geographic area
Scanning written foreign language material for key words and indicators
Providing records of foreign intercepted communications
Operating communication equipment for SIGINT tasking, reporting and coordination
Translating written and spoken foreign language material to and from English, making sure to preserve the original meaning
Recording foreign radio transmissions using sensitive communications equipment
Translating foreign books and articles describing foreign equipment and construction techniques
Use and care of communications equipment
Procedures for preparing reports


Advanced Duties

As an advanced level Cryptologic Linguist, you may also be involved in:

Our Loss Prevention Supervisor (LPS) is responsible for 20 to 35 drugstores and reports directly to a Loss Prevention Manager. The professional LPS works as a team member with the District Manager, District Pharmacy Supervisor and District Training Supervisors. The team works to improve internal controls, reduce the opportunity for shrink and increase gross profit. The LPS conducts internal investigations related but not limited to: Policy violations, employee and vendor theft, sexual harassment, robbery, burglary, etc. Conducts store and pharmacy compliance audits and conduct's training designed to improve profitability. On a daily basis,  the LPS will use web based exception reports, store and pharmacy audits, LP Case Management Systems, etc. which requires exceptional administrative, time and self-management skills in order to accomplish all job requirements.

Coordinates work of sales and marketing departments with production and shipping departments to implement fulfillment of contracts.  Maintains close working relationship with Program Management and associated project teams, providing contractual advice and guidance as required in order to ensure compliance with Requests For Proposals/Quotations and/or contractual requirements.  Originates and receives official contractual correspondence for and from customers, and performs as the official point of contact for contractual matters.  Originates applications for, coordinates processing of and maintains export licenses and related documentation for shipments under contractual or marketing requirements. Provides advice and guidance as required to assure company’s conformance with export regulations.  Coordinates and maintains Sales Representative Agreements for company, based upon Marketing identification of Representative and Product line.

Military Intelligence officers provide timely, relevant and accurate intelligence and Electronic Warfare (EW) support to leaders at all levels. Military Intelligence officers lead, manage and direct intelligence planning and operations across the entire operational continuum.
 
Duties for intelligence positions may include but are not limited to:
 

Receiving and processing incoming reports and messages
Assisting in determining the significance and reliability of incoming information
Assisting in the analysis and evaluation of intelligence holdings to determine change in enemy capabilities, vulnerabilities and probable courses of action 
Translating, transcribing or producing summaries of foreign language transmissions in English/target languages
Analyzing foreign communications intercepts and isolating intelligence information
